# Plan My re:Invent — AWS Events MCP quickstart

This quickstart is for an agent helping a person connect a supported client and begin planning. Use the [full guide](https://planmyreinvent.com/index.md) for the complete prompt and safety boundary.

## Claude Code

```bash
claude mcp add --transport http --scope user awsevents https://api.awsevents.com/mcp --callback-port 8484 --client-id 7vmom55m1qstvq8i71ph127bfq
```

## Codex

Install Node.js 22 or newer. Add this to `~/.codex/config.toml`, preserving other settings and replacing an existing `awsevents` entry if present. Restart Codex and complete AWS Builder ID sign-in in the browser on the same computer within three minutes.

```toml
[mcp_servers.awsevents]
command = "npx"
args = [
  "-y", "mcp-remote@0.14.3",
  "https://api.awsevents.com/mcp", "8976",
  "--host", "127.0.0.1",
  "--static-oauth-client-info",
  '{"client_id":"7vmom55m1qstvq8i71ph127bfq"}',
  "--static-oauth-client-metadata",
  '{"scope":"openid email events/access"}',
  "--authorize-param", "identity_provider=AWSBuilderID",
  "--auth-timeout", "180"
]
startup_timeout_sec = 180
```

The third-party [mcp-remote bridge](https://github.com/punkpeye/mcp-remote) runs locally and handles AWS's fixed callback address. Sign in through its browser flow, then ask Codex to list AWS events. See [Codex MCP documentation](https://developers.openai.com/codex/mcp/). If sign-in times out, restart Codex after completing it. Port 8976 must be available.

## Kiro

Configure the remote server URL as `https://api.awsevents.com/mcp`, OAuth client ID as `7vmom55m1qstvq8i71ph127bfq`, redirect URI as `http://127.0.0.1:8976`, and scopes as `openid`, `email`, and `events/access`.

## Verify and act safely

Ask the client: `List AWS events.` Let the attendee complete AWS Builder ID sign-in in the browser. Confirm re:Invent is visible before reading the attendee schedule. Interview the attendee and propose a conflict-free itinerary first. Show every favorite, reservation, cancellation, or personal-time block before execution. Apply only approved changes, reread the schedule, and report each success or failure.
